(FOX40.COM) — Parts of Highway 50 in Northern California have been shut down after several fires ignited near the roadways, according to the California Department of Transportation.
Around 4:11 p.m. Tuesday, emergency crews began their response to seven roadside fires on Highway 50 in Placerville. The largest of the fires was one acre, according to Caltrans.

All eastbound and westbound lanes have been closed while crews make progress on extinguishing the flames. Caltrans said traffic is being detoured onto Schnell School Road and there is no estimated time of reopening.
